I'd like to announce that the 2009 Armageddon lasertag tournament will be held in San Francisco CA!!!!!
*sarcasm*

I'm only kidding of course. Does anyone have any idea where this year's Armageddon will be? Is everyone just burned out or what? There's been no posts on here. At this point we should have some idea where Armageddon is going to be next year. Let's figure out where it's going to be and not delay this.

As much as i really liked the NJ/NY tournament last year, I feel that Laserforce should be represented in the Armageddon tournaments. Leaving them out two years in a row would suck. Laserforce seems to be a growing player in competitive lasertag. So I vote to move Armageddon back down to Texas. I'd favor NY again only if we're able to compete with Laserforce. Syracuse is just too far- but another Laserforce may open in NY before July. I have no idea where. Laserforce seems to be far behind in updating their site list on their website.

-Zigs

On a side note, Laserstorm has officially moved up a notch as far as lasertag systems in my book. I just played at the Laserstorm in Pittsburgh, and was very impressed at how seriously they tournament competitions. You couldn't play laserstorm without noticing all of the promotional league and tournament memorabilia plastered throughout their lobby.

No offense do you remember the sites we played at in Texas. I would chose NYC area centers any day over them. I hate brocken equipment! Looks like were back for 09!

Laser Storm is kewl but it's very unfortunate that they don't promote laser tag as a whole in Pittsburg. You honestly don't get a sense of how good you are until you play other people in other laser tags. As the pool of players becomes larger-one's ego tends to get smaller. There are a lot of great one system players out in the world but if they really want to test themselves the solution is Armageddon.

Armageddon will be in the same region for 2009 becomes of the great success we had we fully operational fields and equipment. 2010 is still open for suggestions. Nathan told me I should organize the 2010 tourny for our region. We have a growing number of fields and a wide variety as well. However, I'm not putting my hat in the ring just yet. I need to talk to Ricky about this and see what he wants to plan for the future.

As far as people being burnt out. I doubt it ziggs. Everyone just has a lot of stuff to do. It's too bad were not all teenagers again lol. I've been jumping on the different forums to participate in discussions and tournaments where I can. If you enjoy laser force a lot ziggs or anyone else you should go to the August tourny. I know our work schedules can make it difficult to fit every big tournament in the mix but the laser force tourny may very well have the largest team participation that laser tag has seen in years. I think I'm locked in the Armageddon tournament forever but I'm going to try and attend a few of the other big tournaments during the year.

Eh, this forum always lulls in the Fall/Winter then fires back up around Spring. Most of my attention has been directed at the Darklight world the past few months (Solidifying a universal tournament format and basic game play rules) and some local and regional tournaments.

I'm definitely not burned out though, and I'm looking forward to the '09 'geddon!

Pittsburgh Storm is *slowly* becoming more interested in the world outside of Storm. Zalgax, one of LSP's legacy players participated in A2008 and plans on playing again this year. Rave is planning on coming back for more, and I'll be there. There might even be some additional players this year.

But Zigs speaks the truth about how the competitive aspect of Storm is pushed heavily at LSP. The member statistics are tracked and posted frequently.

(Member Stats - http://www.laserstorm.org/pitt/reports/MemberLifetimeStats_1.html Note: That 191 Members registered for this year ONLY. Expired memberships are not shown on the list.)

Leagues have been very consistent and successful, members are treated well (after-hour games, specialty games, ect), BOGO coupons are given to the highest ranking player of each team for *every* game (Members are ranked on a different scale than public, making this difficult against public), and even though everyone complains about the cheap feel of the cardboard cut-out mazes, these kind of walls enable the arena map to change completely every six months, which keeps everything fresh and the competitive interest level high despite a relatively small building footprint.

(A page showing all of the previous arena maps http://www.laserstorm.org/pitt/old_arena_maps.htm )

There is talent at this arena in bucket quantities, but just like at other competitive centers, most view all other systems as inferior to their own. It's hard to really get through to these players and convince them to let go of nearly $300 just to get their asses kicked (at least until they understand how the other systems work). But as more and more players from LSP attend Armageddon, the more that other players will warm up to it.

LSP players who have played in Armageddon (to my knowledge):

Rave
E-Bay
Dominator
Llama
Gohan
Zalgax

I'm pretty sure that the tournament is going to be held around the NY/NJ/PA region again this year. Trogg was unfortunately excluded from the plans last year because negations did not work out, but a lot of effort was expended on trying to make that center part of the list (As it is famous for being one of the largest facilities in the world).

I'm sure that they will be contacted again this year and hopefully things have changed so that it can be included.

If this were true then Ricky should try and contact me so I can give him some info on this place. I am one of those few players that have played tournaments at Trog and know how things are, there. I have a lot of ill feeling's towards this place. But I also I a few ideas that may make things easier on everyone.

Okay, apparently there needs to be some rumor control. Was waiting for Ricky to comment on it but since he hasn't an dpeople are discussing trog someone needs to explain.

The owner is Bat-Shit-Insane and wants thousands (yes you read that right) of dollars for armageddon to play there. Ricky did his utmost last year to negotiate a compromise or something. The owner was quite frankly a rude jackass who would dodge the phone and never returning calls or messages. Ricky flew out there to speak to him face to face and he was just as impolite. He is also fucking crazy, he showed us his party book and explained how he needs that price to cover the lost business (even though every slot in the book that weekend was blank)!!

After the way he treated Ricky, he is done with Trog, and I don't blame him. So to be nice this year I took a quick look into it to see if the owner had come around and started taking his crazy pills. Nope, I was quoted a price of $3,000 for 6 hours.

So trog is out until Kevin gets taken away in astraight jacket and someone more reasonable takes over the place.

Yes planet trog would be out just like any other facility that attempted to overcharge us (especially on a day with little or no business coming).

Am I right Nathan in that most places would charge a third of that for the same time duration?

Screw this place! I just wish this place would just close down. I would be against playing here if the rates would be reasonable.

I'm going to start off by saying I like AR, well at least that commando version we played in Sweden. Its an awesome easy to play fast moving game. But man o man... and I mean no disrespect to Whatever but playing in that Arena was a death Trap... my first 5 mins I bang my shin into a potted plant that was sitting on the ground. Ran Into a catus, tripped on a garden outlined in bricks. The rest of the time I spent trying to figure out how the Pyramid base works... (that part is my own fault) I'm going to say, as much as I like AR I will not miss playing it at Trog.

Greg, I agree with Trog! Plus they have a complete **** head as an owner. It dosn't hurt me not having AR. If it means playing in hell (Trog)

As for the Sweden version, American AR players don't like that. Were more into your typical 5 on 5. What's the point of giving players extra shields or bombs. We like everything even.

Greetings.

Can someone INSIST that the batteries at the Storm arena (Laser Kingdom) all be changed at least a month beforehand? That was possibly the worst I have ever seen as far as battery issues.

It would be the shit if everyone got to play Storm here, as it was meant to be played, on decent equipment and an original arena, and not something filled with shit to hurt yourself on.

But George would have figured all that out by now if it was possible.

I am a tad more diplomatic than Nathan in this matter. The gentlemen said he would only consider it if we paid $500 an hour. Armageddon is only possible, with the generosity of the participating centers, if the centers allow us to have it there at $100. It is impossible to pay what Trog is asking for. I was left with the impression that he was unwilling to negotiate. While I enjoy getting sodomized by the swedes at Actual Reality, we do not need that system nearly that much. So, I will not ask again, and if is interested in hosting Armageddon there, he will have to ask.

I wish him good luck in his future business endeavors..

Please here my advice PLEASE stay away from TROG! Even if kevin did want to allow us to host. He still would allow us to run the settings the way they should be ran by. He would want to do what he thought were best. Which are the worst settings I have ever played under in tag. It would be unfair for any AR player(swedes, and us) to play under bc the door is always open to lose if the other team so happens to destroy the base!

Can some one just do every one a favor and burn this barn (trog) to the ground.

Aww I didn't see Qzar on the list this year :(
I hope its a typo, since I can still get the same low price as last year. All I need is a date and time to book it.
And To any one who is interested, The friday before (the 26th) will be an over night Qzar tourny.
