Me! Looking for a team.
Experience none, that I can remember! To many kicks to the body to remember any armageddon memory. I do Believe I did play a few years.
But I am probably in that area were no body wants a drunk.

Hello Just wondering if a 13 year old would be able to play this tourney? He would be my son he and I play lots of zone lasertag in Madison area. He is a decent player but competition is not something he is used to at his age. I did play with a few Armageddon players a year ago at a zone tourney so have some idea of it. Just wondering if it may or may not be appropriate for his age. Thanks

Thanks Well The Baron and Baby B were certainly just such a dynamic father-son duo, so while it most certainly ahs been done, they would likely be the ones to ask on how appropriate it was, how much he enjoyed it etc.

I was asked to comment on this topic, although we won't be attending this year.
Armageddon has been a lot of fun. Alex played his first year at age 10 on the pick-up team (back then there was always a random team of one and twos who didn't get on teams otherwise). He was an OK laser tag player back then. He's a bit better now.\
Pros
-I can't imagine a better bonding experience with my son than competitive play where we're both competing. We both enjoy laser tag and playing together (which we have done many years since) is rewarding. Growing up, there weren't a lot of things that my father and I actually 'did' together. It makes a huge difference that Alex and I can play at a high level together at something.
-Your son will rapidly see laser tag in a different light and (if he has the right attitude) become a much better player much faster.
-Most of the members of our group are very protective in their own weird ways. I didn't have a problem letting Alex stay up later than I could handle, even at 10. I knew people would be taking care of him and they did. When a player lost his cool at Alex, there were several other players who were ready to rip this loser's limbs off.
Cons
-This is a real tournament with hard core players. Nobody's going to take it easy on your son and especially if he's only played one system, he will be punished in the other ones. People with big egos and limited playing experience get frustrated quickly.
-There are some, um, adult themes at this tournament. If language, drinking, sexual innuendo, some outright perversion and other adult things will bother either you or your son, it's not a good choice. Because of a lot of things, my son was/is very mature and handles these things well. But, I could see problems for others. For a lot of players, this is a tournament and a big party.

Thanks for the info. Is the Baron Jason Bock? by chance. If so we have met. I will discuss with him about these issues. As I realize how an environment may affect his look on life. So far he has been able to keep to his beliefs, and ignore outside influences. As for competition he is a bit timid still under intense situations but something like this may make him stronger in that regards.

If you still have any questions, post them on here. Ricky is a busy man and a lot of questions can be answered by others. I imagine Nathan can also help given his involvement in organising things as well, but if there is a quesiton we're stuck on I'm sure we can force ricky to respond. Mike

Not sure why but I cannot seem to find how to get an email notice when someone replies. 1. Are there spots on a team, or teams? Not sure if we (kid and I) should play seperate or not. We both have extensive play on zone (played tourney at Bensalem, philadelphia), I have also played laser quest (Illinois), Tron (In Buffalo), and lasertag adventure (Laser Force). On a Scale of 1-10 I would have to rate my play as a solid 8 on the zone, and laser force systems, maybe a 6.75 on tron as did not figure out the scoring system fully, same with laser quest. My son would be a good 6.5 on zone , laser force, probably a 5.5 on new systems
2. I want to know hotel names as we most likely would have our own room, for quiet time. Would we get a reduced price? if not that is understandable but need to ask. 3. Confirm if we fly into pennsylvania for bensalem we start and finish there. I was a little confused after reading a post about people flying into New York. 4. Is there a 2009 roster list somewhere?

Teams are forming now and people are watching this topic closely. One trend/strategy in Armageddon is forming teams that work well together and have coverage over multiple systems. You and The Kid are clearly desirable as Zone players. Having one or both of you on a team would increase a team's likelihood of sweeping Zone -but- other system performance is also important to. If you and/or your son have exposure to any other system(s) (especially tournament exposure) it will help you get picked up quicker as you will be bringing more to the table... Definitely mention those sorts of things. 2. Talk to Ricky about this. 3. Some people will be flying into NYC and then catching rides with friends down to Bensalem to save on cost I think. 4. http://web.a20xx.com:6080/portal_v4/Rosters/tabid/86/Default.aspx Nothing yet! Although I know many people who have either paid in full or put in a deposit already.

I'm not sure about Zone Nats -- isn't it an all-week even during the week? I'll seriously consider it though. PM "Dark Angel" - that is Ricky.
