I was wondering what everyone thought about implementing the rules for each system this year. I think, for the most part, people understand what fair play is. At the same time it would be a good idea to go over specifics in advance.

I wouldn't mind having an official list of "Unless Otherwise Specified" rules... things like no running, jumping, climbing, laying down, or physically covering sensors... you know, the common stuff that is usually the same from system to system.

From there we can then outline system specifics where each system has additional rules and/or more freedoms.

Are radios permitted for outdoor? Two years ago we were encouraged to bring our own two-way radios for outdoor lasertag, though few did. I'll be glad to rent enough heavy duty radio headsets for everyone if requested. It would probably cost around $10 a player, depending on the number of players that want them and if we're willing to share headsets or not.

Are we playing capture-the-flag elimination games again? That would be my strong preference.

I would like to ask.... no.. DEMAND... that players be allowed to view the playing area of Darklight. We were able to do it in the other centers, why not there? Was it just me? I don't think so. I went in there and dude was totally rude when I asked to look inside. HOLY SHIT it's not like I work at one! Oh wait... I'M ALSO AN ADULT (sort of), and you know, it doesn't seem right that no one else from the teams that have played in this arena many times before (Jabbs) stands up and says something on our behalf. It generally made me hate Darklight. Being my first time playing it, being treated like I'm retarded and can't be allowed in to LOOK at the arena I'm about to play on that I paid MONEY for, and have all you assholes who HAVE seen it not even give a damn. I hope you are happy on your tainted victory over us Darklight newbs on your junk-ass Aztec's scenario. Oh, I sure hope I get to "face off" in a "dogfight" like a dancing idiot when we play the other systems! Thanks Nathan!

Maybe that's all changed. I hope so. I like bad words.

I agree the management of LaserOne was being totally rude to us in not even allowing us on their field or even their observation area. I think he was afraid we would vandalize it, but still that is no excuse for their piss poor attitude. The management of the Laserquest in Dallas was the same way. It's completely unprofessional to host a serious competition without letting the athletes look at the field they're about to compete on.

I don't think it's fair to blame Nathan for this. Nathan spent a lot of time doing the logistical legwork to make Armageddon happen. He doesn't work at the darklight. He's merely a player.

Ideally, it should be part of the official Armageddon Rider that each hosting lasertag center allows us 10 minutes of time for field exploration before the games begin. In addition, the Armageddon rider should require the house management to provide us with unlimited gatoraid, gourment catered meals, attractive and scantly dressed people cooling us with giant feather fans, and on-sight massage therapists, and equipment that's in working order. Am i missing anything?

In reality, we're guests of each lasertag center. We're paying them, but in most cases we're paying them less then they would be making for normal parties.

If the management is going to be prudish about not letting non-playing people on the field, then we should schedule time for a "warmup game", where we suit up and explore the arena without shooting. Didn't we do that at Laserone last year? Having a tournament on a field without allowing anyone to see the field before the game starts gives a huge bias to the local players, and just shouldn't be acceptable in a serious tournament.

Joe I am very disappointed in you of all people, going off and being rude towards a center for having unique house rules and policies. You who have been a manager of a site for so long. How would you take to someone DEMANDING Pittsburgh altered its rules. Every site does things their own way. Pitt Storm likes to tell players that you can not plug packs from the wall jack, leading to my team (despite having several of us who not only worked at a tag site but at storm sites specifically) being screamed at like we were retarded for trying to "blow up" a pack that needed to be reset.

This doesnt mean you have to agree with them. I personally agree with you and Ziggy on the idea that players should always be able to view a field before a tournament, and I personally do not always agree with Laser One on all of their policies. However I try to respect them, respect the site, and work with the operator. Being that it is my nearest Darklight site I am quite familiar with many more unusual rules they have than just this one (Assassin can tell quite a story about not being allowed to smoke during an entire lock-in).

As Ricky can attest (since he was there on a site visit when I made one of my many please to the operator about this issue), I did my utmost to secure permission for players to see the field ahead of time. It was denied, Ricky respected the operators wishes and so do I. This included distributing a map. Thankfully this year that won't be the case. However it is doubtful they will allow players to walk the field first (though once again I will try).

Saying that no one stood up for the visitors and tried to get the owner to change position is both categorically untrue and quite frankly ungrateful of all the time, effort, and money spent by those who set this up, who repeatedly tried to negotiate for field time with the owner. The best we managed to do was a discounted All-You-Can-Play offered to geddon people the night before, and the day of. I even offered to be a tour guide of sorts and join the game that Ziggy mentioned wherein players would be allowed to explore the field. Only three people actually took up the offer.

How many taggers hav't played there? Maybe a handful of us. Just play dumb and sneak in there.

No Offense Nathen in Darklight you should be able to see the arena before you play. Mainly bc there are gems in there and should have a right to see where they are you, so if you do want to try and come up with a game plan you can work at it. Plus you have to look at who wants to make a trip all the way to some stupid place to look at an arena before hand.

i agree xxx to most of that extent.
it is unprofessional for any arena to host an event on this caliber and deny the athlets a look at the field.
Syndicate did a wonderful job trying to secure the arena for us, unfortunatly house rules are some times...odd...to say the least.

It is incredibly unfair for the teams that have not seen the arena to not GET to see the arena before hand in some form or fashion.
there for:
i will either pay for a game to see the arena or, my personal favorite, play a 'party mom' looking to host her kids bday there :)
hahaha

Oh shut up Nathan. I would NEVER deny permission to explore our arena. Me being an tag manager for 10 damn years I understand that there is NO REASON not to allow it. It's stubborn, narrow-minded, and senseless. WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL? I wasn't rude to a center either you jackass. I was stating my opinion here on a forum. If I was to be rude I would have snuck in against their will. I would have called the store and screamed at the owner. What's with you? Making shit up... Not the first time (Blast last year)

Ok, I"m glad to see at least someone attempted to get us in there. As far as you and resetting our packs.... you guys are creepy looking and the staff had no idea who you are. Can you blame them?

Joe, note that I said I agreed with you on the issue of players ought to be allowed to see a field. You don't have to try to convince me of such as I am already of the same opinion as you. As I said I tried to get armageddon in last year and will be trying again this year because it is how tournaments should be done in my opinion.

That said, stating that you do not ask but rather demand that the center changes its rules is being rude. It may just be you trying to state your opinion emphatically on these boards but remember they are not secret. Each operator hosting us has a copy of the web address, and Jim (the DL operator) has read them several times. Writing on here that you demand he change his rules and that he was "dude was totally rude" is in effect the same thing as if you had called up the center itself, at least the outcome would be the same. There is a distinct difference in writing that you disagree with the store policy and saying that you felt you were "being treated like I'm retarded" when discussing the site operator.

As for getting in this year, it is either a go from the operator or not. Understand this would be a HUGE change in policy, as they do not let anyone in, even party moms etc. This includes me (and I have played hundreds of games there), it even includes former staff.

But Na-than... he WAS rude to me. My FIRST armageddon, the FIRST DAY, at the FIRST CENTER and the representative did indeed treat me like I as retarded and offer no valid explanation as to why I couldn't see what I was about to get involved with. Note why I was so amiable for the rest of that day.

For the life of me I can't even fabricate a remotely valid reason. We all went in eventually, and ran around with their equipment. So why not a casual walkthrough? Not nearly as unsafe, that's for sure. You'd be an idiot not to agree with me... I told you to shut up because I do not feel I am out of line. I'm dropping all this money and time to compete in a totally alien system and.... ok .... I'm just going to repeat myself if I keep going.

I demand lots of things. Got a problem? I already asked. I asked REAL NICE TOO!! And we all know how well that worked out. Should I beg next time?

I could see you in the disguise of a 8 year old kid getting in :p

hehe also remember nathans not the only person who has played at that arena before, 1/2 of rickys team has, and i think some sweds unless im mistaken.

Jim was a bit off with that absurdness, actually a lot off, and there is no sane reason... but we couldnt very well storm in there like vikings... well the sweds could...

Nathan has put in a lot of work to make Armageddon happen this year. Without his hard work we might not be playing at all.

Everyone agrees with you that players should always be able to see an arena before they play on it. Everyone agrees that the management of laserone seems to have something up their ass regarding their stupid house rule. So you're trying to blame Nathan for this, as if it's somehow his fault?

The amount of anger a person communicates to others is in inverse purportion to the quality of their sex life. Please stop flaunting the problems of your sex life on these forums! We really don't want to hear about them!

Holy shit already! I know you all agree, blah blah blah. I didn't attack Nathan because of Laser One, you fool. I was poking fun at, and making reference to what we almost had to do during Blast (the face-off dogfight) after my gripe about the center. Then special Nathan goes and accuses me of being rude to the same guy who was rude as hell to me originally. So what? Maybe I was? He was a jerk! And you all agree their policies are dumb. Good. thanks for agreeing with me. Hooray. You guys need to maybe re-read the original post. I never blamed my good buddy Aztec for anything but being himself.

Now sir Ziggy, it is hardly necessary for you to make assumptions about me. You are that weird quiet dude who's always taking pictures and sitting by himself, right? I'm the loud asshole with the bullhorn who's always angry. Ohio has known me for years, ask them. People are who they are. Don't make this personal or I'll have to make fun of your awesome wardrobe buddy...
