so. will we stay in the same area? move and relocate?

whereto if so?

I'm in favor of either north carolina area or georgia. but I'm throwing this out for people's thoughts.

I heard california was in the running but doubtful. is it still there?

so where do you want it?

I want us to go back to the 2 year pattern of Armageddon, Same place for 2 years then move on. I'm all for it being in the same area again, and why not? It was the biggest participation we've ever had and it was ironically the smoothest Armageddon I can remember. Everything worked, everything got done, everyone had a good time. Lets try for 2 consecutive years of this before we roll the dice on another location. Especially California, as I feel that will probably cut the tournament attendance in half at least.

I second that opinion about staying in the same region. This year was great, except for not having outdoor. I'd like to do the same area again. We can change specific centers if we want, but stay in the same region.

I live in California and would love to host an Armageddon there as a separate regional competition, perhaps sometime in the spring; something that would be completely separate like the UK and Sweden Armageddons are. California would probably be more foreign to many of you then Sweden (but definitely not the UK- that place is completely foreign!). I agree with Rave that trying to host the US National Armageddon in California would be a very bad idea.

I would prefer going back again next year. For selfish reasons, it's close to me.

I would also like to go out to CA.

I would say play the same sort of area. Despite any moaning or bitching, no system was dropped... I don't even recall someone calling for a system to be dropped - I think that's a first in all the years I've been to Armageddon.

A Cali event would be great, and if Ziggy can organise something over that way as a separate smaller event then it may ignite a spark over there. We know he can organise events by the outdoor tournaments he has run.

I agree that we should keep it in the same area. Moving in 2-year blocks allows the preservation of some of the logistics, center relationships, etc. so it should be a bit easier for the tournament organizers. I think a little bit of stability is good for the tournament.

As Mike said, the systems all worked well, and we already know that the Force center will accommodate both of the portable systems, so that is a big plus. I have to add that the hotel next to that center seems like it would have been the best place we stayed at for 'social night' so maybe we could work that into our plans for next year.

My main suggestion would be to consider using the Zone center that is just 1 or 2 miles from the first center we played at on this year's route. I loved seeing the old Alpha Field and the ILTA Museum collection in Louisville, but logistically it seems silly not to take advantage of the close proximity of those other two arenas next time. It would potentially save a lot of time and driving.

Also, while we all enjoyed the visiting pirate ship Laser Blast center, the maze itself really didn't play too well. I'd say we should consider using a different Blast center if one is available.

There are other options to consider to... There are several Darklights, Blasts, Zones, and Tron centers to choose from... One of the Darklight centers is actually a converted Q-Zar arena and is located only a mile or two down the road from the Quest center... Florence Zone operator which was a mile from the Darklight that we played really wanted our business as well. There is also the possibility that one or more of these centers will be changing gear by next year.

something to think about . is the OLD laser web store is vacant. from what I've been told . most of the walls are still there( stacked in the back) plus the upper level is still in place.
perhaps some thing could be worked out with owners of the building . if the place is still vacant next year. given the track record of that strip mall. it looks good.

that could give us plenty of flexibility. next year for storm/qzar . since we could move things around.

plus that location is . close to LQ,blast,Darklight sites from this year. also food ( burger king and wendys) within walking distance.
and several hotels nearby. with a good source of alcohol down the street about 10min.

I will keep an eye on it and see what happens . just in case.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think someone mentioned NOT to count on the Storm gear being available again; that it was likely a one time thing.

The player units were actually supplied by the manufacturer of Laser Storm. There is no reason to think he won't do it again.

There are multiple problems with this idea.

The terms "code" and insurance come to mind immediately.

I'm not sure if the budget will allow, but it would be pretty kick-ass to rent out some cabins for the party night.... For instance, $1500 - $2000 per night should buy *every* cabin in this location: http://www.mcginleyvacationcabins.com/ which is a few miles away from the Force center... being in a wooded area near a park, Outdoor might be able to be played locally too.

I think players would be more than willing to kick in an extra $20-$30 to the ticket if it means they will have a night of pool tables, washing machines, hot tubs, and near-exclusive use of the location (no cops being called due to noise complaints, ect...)

Yeah our "social" night this year was really really put in check due to the hotel...while this is good for the people that are not so into partying putting 40+ people into a 2 bed hotel room wasn't very fun...well besides Ohio kicking PA's ass in flip cup! :-D I really like our new hotels we have been staying in lately but the "social night" is one of the huge pulls of armageddon for a lot of people so I think it should be taken into consideration...Almost as important to me as the actual competition! (Almost)

The Brown County State park is where we were going to play outdoor. Yes i saw those cabins and thought the same damn thing; it would be great to rent those out, so long as each team pays their own deposit.

Hopefully next year we'll be able to get an actual budget for outdoor. I tried to get outdoor this year basically for free, with BFS helping out. It failed. I will not give up on this though. I'll continue to do whatever i can to bring outdoor to future Armageddons.

That would be great as long as we schedule enough time there to make it worthwhile. If it's one of those deals where we have this great place to stay but we're only there for 4 hours it would be pointless.

I like the idea, though. Make it so.

Aye if its near the force, and we hold 3 systems there again, we wont have any time to hang around no matter when we start.... Its a shame cause we had such a great set up for some fun at that hotel but only 3 hours to enjoy it.
